I rarely, if ever, write reviews about anything. I am too busy because my wife and I both work and we are at that busy stage of family life.

However, I am making an exception for Platinum Roofing Specialists.

Platinum Roofing Specialists replaced our roof in August. The end-to-end experience far exceeded our expectations.

This was a big financial investment for us. It is something that we had to save for, and not something we took on lightly.

Actual works

• We cannot fault the work Platinum Roofing did.
• It looks fantastic and has surely added value to our property.
• Platinum Roofing added, after discussion, several touches like finials (I didn’t know what these were before researching roofs). They advised on design, spacing etc.
• The peace of mind from knowing we don’t have to worry about leaks is wonderful (and we really don’t worry).
• The house feels noticeably different inside due to the thicker insulation.

Communication

• From the point of initial contact to the completion of works, Platinum Roofing’s communication was faultless.
• This really helped make the process less stressful as there was no waiting or uncertainty.
• They responded cheerfully, clearly and effectively seven days a week promptly.
• They worked with us on dates to suit our travel plans, school holidays etc.
• No problem was ever too big or small, and we got fast and effective responses.
• It is not often that one meets such a positive can-do group of people. I wish them every success. They deserve it.

Working on-site

• Platinum Roofing’s team was about half a dozen strong.
• All the team were very polite, friendly and helpful with any questions while on site.
• Safety was also carefully adhered to, which was important for us because we have young kids.
• In addition to the contracted and agreed works, Platinum Roofing also fixed several things like removing a redundant TV aerial and Foxtel dish the former owners had left and we didn’t want.

How we found Platinum Roofing

• We found Platinum Roofing by walking our neighbourhood and looking at houses who had replaced their roofs.
• It’s a friendly community, so we asked these people who replaced their roof, whether they would recommend them, and what the experience was like.
• Platinum came up several times.

Related works

• As part of the roof replacement, we also wanted other works like solar and bathroom exhaust fans. Platinum Roofing provided details for these contractors who were just as effective as Platinum Roofing. To the extent that we stopped bothering gets quotes from elsewhere and just asked Platinum Roofing for them.

• Mark came and highlighted extra problems the team discovered or imperfections they came across in either the materials or the roof structure. No extra charges, just solutions – how often do you get that in life?

Very happy with our new terracotta tile roof replacement. Mark was able to find a solution to remove a large section of the existing lead flashing that was used to bridge the roof height difference at the back of the house due to renovation done 15 years ago, and replaced it with continuous new ridges to give it a seamless look. So now it looks amazing and one would not be able to tell there is a roof height difference at the back of the house.

You’ll find most roofing company do metal roof replacement and once in a while do terracotta tile re-roofing, so lack the experience I wanted. I was looking for someone that had experience doing terracotta tile roof replacement day in day out, and Platinum Roofing Specialists met our criteria. They do a lot of residential home terracotta roof replacements, and even schools and churches, so have definitely got the experience to knows the ins and outs of issues that may come up and deal with them. I went and looked from the street level at a number of new roof replacements Mark did and was impressed on the finished product. And with all of the good reviews they had, I was pretty confident I found the right company to replace our roof, and I was not wrong. They have been fantastic!

Mark was able to provide the quote promptly and competitively. We had to wait for 3 months from the point of giving the go ahead before they were able to come and do the work. That was fine with us as it shows how in demand they are. I’d rather wait to have it done properly than to get someone sub-standard to do it quicker and deal with the consequences. Trust me, I’ve met and experienced many dodgy trades people before! So wasn’t going to repeat the same mistake on my roof replacement.

From sending out the quote, to signing the Home Building Contract, and issuing the certificate of insurance, the whole process was handled very professionally. Mark has a can-do attitude and was always available and have promptly responded to my questions whenever I text him. A month before they came out to do the work, Blake (who works for Mark and does the co-ordination) updated us on the estimated date (pending weather) they were planning to come and do the work. So we were well informed.

On the day of the work, Mark was there on-site with his large team of 9-10 staff and was able to get the job done quickly. So it’s definitely a well oiled operation.

I’ve seen one of their reviews mentioning about some nails, dirt and dust left around after the work has been carried out. That is true. However, from my experience, at the end of each day and upon finishing the work, they cleaned up the property 99%. I was happy to clean up the remaining 1% given the operation involved in a complete roof replacement. From my perspective, I engaged them to deal with the important issues and focus on delivering an excellent end product. I was happy to deal with some minor clean up at the end. This is expected. I’m not expecting someone to clean my place like the way I do it.

If you’re looking for a professional company to replace your existing or new terracotta roof, you won’t go wrong with Platinum Roofing Specialist. Highly recommended.
